AACD Forms the American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry

Group to Serve as the Credentialing Authority for World’s Largest Cosmetic Dental Association

August 13, 2004 Madison, WI – The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) announced the foundation of the American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry at the organization’s recent 20th Annual Scientific Session, held in Vancouver, BC. The American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry replaces the AACD’s Board of Governors. The American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry will oversee the testing, analysis, and evaluation of the clinical services of dentists and laboratory technicians for the purpose of awarding AACD Accreditation in cosmetic dentistry.

About AACD’s Accreditation Program

The AACD is dentistry's largest organization offering a rigorous Board Certification in Cosmetic Dentistry, Accreditation, now administered by the American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry.

As techniques and materials have improved, the Accreditation program has continued to evolve to incorporate the latest in cosmetic dental advancements. Accreditation represents AACD’s acknowledgment of a doctor or dental technician's clinical excellence in cosmetic dentistry. The program is a three-part process, consisting of a Written Examination, submission of Clinical Case Submissions & Reports for evaluation, and an Oral Examination. Each part must be completed in sequence. The candidate has flexibility to proceed at a pace that works best for the individual.

“Achieving Accredited status by the American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry represents outstanding clinical achievement in the AACD,” said AACD President Dr. Larry Addleson of San Diego, CA. “Doctors and laboratory technicians reach this status through a dedication to continuing education, careful adherence to protocol, and a resolve to produce exceptional dentistry. Through the challenges of the program, AACD members learn the keys to providing patients with the latest in cosmetic dental treatment skills.”

Members of the American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry include: Jim Roethele, DDS; Bruce Crispin , DDS; Rod Gore, DDS; James Hastings, DDS; Brett Magnuson, DMD; Wes Urich, DDS; and Jerry Woolf, DDS.

The AACD is the largest international dental organization dedicated specifically to advancing the art and science of cosmetic dentistry.
